Depression can manifest in many forms, even physical.

The most problematic symptom, however, is the self-inducing fear it prompts. This leads people to try and hide their mental illness through dodging tactics.

Some of the strategies people use to hide their depression can be as follow:

  • They say they’re tired as an excuse for their low mood;
  • They fake a smile because they don’t want to burden others;
  • They become quiet due to lack of energy to speak;
  • They look at the ground because they want to hide the visible fatigue;
  • They plunge into their phones because it helps to hide the struggle;
  • They restrict to small talk to avoid having a breakdown;
  • They resort to dark humor to brush things off.

If any of these reminds you of someone, take the time to check in properly with them.

They might be in dire need of your help.
