I’m Sorry, I Don’t Want to Be the Better Version of Myself
Today I woke up and thought: I don’t want to be the better version of myself.
I don’t want to wake up at 5 AM, meditate for 20 minutes straight, drink lots of water, work out, and define goals for the rest of the day.
Actually, no. I do have one goal for today: to have no goals to be a better version of myself.
Please, just allow me to have an off day, with no morning routine, no productivity process, or to go to the gym to work on my shape.
Don’t misunderstand me! I do love to do those things, as they actually build me some confidence and discipline. I do feel better when I do those things.
Nowadays it just feels that I must have a consistent plan in order to “be the better me”.
Do you understand the difference between what I just said?
Can I just be better in an esplanade drinking some beer? I kinda like to drink beer in an esplanade.
Just let me do me.
So please, stop telling me — or anyone else, for the matter — to be a better version of myself. Just allow people to feel better first, at least for today.
Inspired by a fellow creator, I decided to challenge myself to publish 100 short-form articles within January. This is article number 10.
