I Got Wasted at 31 So You Don’t Have To

As you might have read from former stories, I’m in my 30’s and, even though I try to stay active, I’m starting to feel my body’s limitations.

Following this, I went out with some friends I haven’t seen in a couple of years, due to Covid, and it was a disaster.

We were 8 men and went to a restaurant. Prior to that, we had already drunk a really good homemade limoncello. At the restaurant, we ate some tapas accompanied by beer — lots of it.

The bill, in total, was €236. Might not seem much but alcohol in Portugal is really really cheap. We left the place well fed and “hydrated”.

After that, we went to a bar, where we stayed until 7 AM. We all had a blast, we had fun like in the good old college days, however, the worst was yet to come.

Fast forward to the next day and I, like many of the others, was completely wrecked! I was only able to ingest some junk food I got from McDonald's and then went right back to bed, where I stayed for the vast majority of the day.

I am not proud of that, at all. The fun was not worth the dizziness, pumping headaches, mouth burning, and vomits I was experiencing.

The worst part is the hangover lasted another day, due to still being dehydrated and completely drained of energy.

Wasted 2 full days due to one single night of good time. Not a good trade!

Bottom line, partying and drinking like I was still in my early 20s is destructive to my no 30-year-old body. I am never repeating it again in my life.

Inspired by a fellow creator, I decided to challenge myself to publish 100 short-form articles within January. This is article number 30.
