Expressing yourself verbally can be difficult. Sometimes, after experiencing trauma, simply talking about it might not be enough.

If you don’t want to focus solely on talking, there are other therapy options you can look for.

Art Therapy

It uses creative expression as a therapeutic tool. It includes drawing, painting, sculpting, photography, or other visual arts.

The best about this type is that you don’t need to be talented to participate.

Music Therapy

It can be done through listening to music and discussing the lyrics, singing or playing an instrument, writing, or even composing songs.

Much like Art Therapy, it doesn’t require prior skill, just the will to make some rhythmic noise.

Dance Therapy

In Dance Therapy, movement is the main therapeutic tool. It helps you interpret music with your body and express emotions without using words.

It’s also a great option if you feel the need to exercise your body.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

EMDR is a form of therapy where the therapist diverts the client's attention, by directing their eye movements, while the latter recall their traumatic memories.

It also resorts to sounds or tapping to gain attention.

Somatic Experiencing

It’s used to treat trauma-related symptoms.

It focuses more on the body, as the goal is to release stress and help people feel more connected to their bodies and internal experiences.

Online Therapy

The principle is the same as verbal therapy.

The difference is that you don’t have to meet face to face with the therapist and the session can be conducted through texting.
