3 Instagram Myths That Stop Your Account From Growing
Success on Instagram isn’t all about follower numbers.
I usually tell my clients there is no point chasing followers if they aren’t building a community, whatever their objective is.
There is no “best way” to grow your account and you won’t do it if you fall into these myths.
You Need a Big Following
The higher the following count the lower the engagement is. Having a 7% engagement rate is actually considered a very good percentage. Falling too far below that just kills your page.
Another shortcoming is that it dilutes your audience of ideal customers.
So, having a big following won’t lead you anywhere if your engagement or conversion rates are slim.
Engage More Than You Create
Engagement needs to be authentic. Doing it for the sake of the algorithm doesn’t retain your audience.
Your content needs to be attractive in order for people to engage with it, otherwise, you’ll just look like a spam account, sending direct messages and posting random comments all over.
Reels Are the Only Way to Grow
Instagram is not Tik Tok.
It is far more complete, therefore it requires attention on all types of content it allows you to share.
The content you create depends on what you want to provide to your audience. Reels tend to be a funny way to engage while carrousels are amazing to transmit more serious information about your brand.
No one will make a decision based on a single 30-second Reels.
Inspired by a fellow creator, I decided to challenge myself to publish 100 short-form articles within January. This is article number 56.
